Today in History; Sir Edward Mutesa elected President

Sir Edward Mutesa was elected as President by the National Assembly. He was the first post-independence President of Uganda.

Mutesa reigned as a non-executive president of Uganda from 1963-1966. During this period, the Prime Minister, Milton Obote, had the executive powers.
