Reigning FUFA Juniors League champions, Kampala Junior Team, beat Five Stars Soccer Academy to the Entebbe Holiday Football and Netball Camp title.
Five Stars put up a strong fight in an attempt to defend their title and managed to contain the pressure from their opponents KJT in a game that ended goalless before heading into penalty shoot outs where they lost 4-3 at Nkumba Primary School playground.
Even after the defeat, Five Stars manager and tournament founder Shafik Kakooza believes Uganda has potential talents capable of challenging records following what transpired in the tournament.
"I'm happy we now have young talents. The tournament was initiated this month with an aim of keeping pupils and students under the age of 17 busy during their holidays," said Kakooza.
He added that more than 50 football and netball teams featured in the event and young talents were spotted. African Express Airways sponsored the event.
"We found out that sports is one way we can get back to our customers so we started with $1000 (sh3m) which facilitated the teams and we have promised to offer $9000 (sh30m) in order to boost the holiday tournament," African Express Airways manager Clinton Jagwe said.
