Michael Otieno fired, time froze and… he missed.

The Pemba Warriors exhaled and thankfully walked away with a 64-63 victory. Otieno and the Ndejje Angels left with broken hearts and drooping faces.

That's what happens when a fiercely contested game goes down to the final shot.

Anyuat Marier snatched a team-high 16 points and 13 rebounds while Mark Opio and Ivan Enabu added 15 and 13 points as the Warriors pipped Ndejje in a dramatic faceoff Sunday in the National Basketball League (NBL).

It came down to the very last play and the Angels could not have asked for a better player to take the potential game-winning buzzer-beater than Otieno. He had already drained a game-high 20 points and this was his chance to finish off the Pemba Warriors; an uncontested three at the top of the key with two seconds to play.

The ball could only hit the front of the rim, time expired and Otieno sunk to his knees. After trailing for more than 33 minutes (at one point by 12), Ndejje had come so close to snatching a win.

Derrick Katumba added 12 points for Ndejje.
