Police Issues guidelines for Uganda Cranes game

Police has issued a set of traffic guidelines for the football match between Uganda Cranes and Comoros at Mandela National Stadium.

Uganda Cranes will be facing off with Comoros in the African Cup of Nations qualifier tomorrow at 5:00pm.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police traffic commander, Norman Musinga, yesterday said the guidelines will be strictly adhered to for ease of traffic flow for the much anticipated game.

"We want all Ugandans to work with the Police so that life is easy for both the supporters and those going about their normal business. We shall not hesitate to arrest anyone attempting to violate these guidelines," Musinga said.

Musinga said that from Wampewo roundabout to Kireka trading centre and from Jinja to Kampala, the traffic flow will be normal.

He said motorists heading towards Jinja from Kampala will not have access from Sports view Hotel towards Bweyogerere via Jokas Hotel. He said there will be normal traffic flow along Kinawataka and Jinja highway.

Musinga noted that motorists with green stickers from Kireka and Northen By-pass will park at the lower parking space opposite Mandela Hotel, as well as VVIPs will access the stadium through the main gate and will park inside the Stadium as directed by traffic police.

He added that motorists with blue stickers will access the stadium through the Eastern gate and park inside the stadium as directed by traffic police.

For the VIPs with blue stickers from Bweyogerere will access the stadium through Eastern gate and park as directed by traffic police.

Musinga observes that motorists unrelated to this function from Jinja heading to Kampala will be diverted at Jokas Hotel to Kinawataka, Nakasero soap works, Bugolobi to the city centre.

Emergency vehicles like fire brigade, ambulances and medical teams will access the venue through the southern gate while motorists exiting the stadium will use the main and eastern gates.

The southern gate will be the exit route for emergency vehicles and the general public is encouraged to use public transport to minimize traffic congestion.

Musinga warned motor cycle riders to comply with the traffic guidelines and all other regulations accordingly
