The Chinese embassy has donated 200 Smart phones, 50 mattresses, 10 motorcycles, 5 laptops, 10 footballs among other things to the Uganda police.

These donations were handed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura by the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali at the police headquarters on Monday.

While receiving the items, Kayihura thanked the Ambassador for being generous to the force since this has not been the first time such donations are given.

"The Chinese Embassy first built a children's playground which has helped in reducing stress to police officers and today (Monday) they are giving us Smart phones and other things," Kayihura said.

He noted that these phones will be used especially through social media such as WhatsApp to ease communication with community members who will report crime to the officers.

Zhao said China is willing to extend a giving hand to the police so as to increase on stability.

"We try as an embassy to give back to the Uganda police and not only to police but also to the society. I also encourage Chinese businessmen to give back to society because without this stability in the country they cannot operate", Zhao said.

He also assured the police chief that China is ready to provide any assistance since Ugandans are like brothers and sisters to the Chinese.
