Girl 'repeatedly defiled by headmaster' hospitalized

She is due to have her abdomen scanned to find out whether her uterus was damaged or not.

A Primary Six teenage girl who says she was repeatedly defiled by her headmaster has been hospitalized after he reportedly took her for an abortion.

The 15-year-old is now lying in pain at Kasana health centre IV in Luwero town council pending a medical examination.

She is due to have her abdomen scanned to find out whether her uterus was damaged or not.

Meanwhile, the suspect, 45-year-old James Sekitto of St. Joseph Bukomba Primary School, has since been arrested.

His arrest came after a tip-off by an unnamed person, said Luwero deputy resident district commissioner Hussein Kibazo.

The victim is understood to have been admitted to a health facility a few hours after Sekitto's arrest.

She had been known to be in "great pain" after aborting her pregnancy with the help of the headmaster, according to the informer.

Dr. Sinani Mabuya, who is the assistant in-charge of Kasana health centre IV, said the girl was brought to the health facility in pain.

He added that she is being treated for post-abortion infections, pending the scan.

The victim said the headmaster had been defiling her repeatedly while at school where she is a boarding pupil.
