The government has requested Ugandans to donate blood following a sharp shortage in the country.
This comes after the Member of Parliament for Bukonjo North, Muhindo Mutoni complained to Parliament about the lack of blood in Kasese hospitals.
The minister of state for Primary Health, Moriku Joyce Kaducu said that the shortage of blood in the regional hospitals is due to the limited blood donations country wide, with only 240,000 units collected instead of the 340,000 units supposed to be collected annually.
However, some MPs indicated that they are willing to donate blood but were informed that the government has enough blood. So, they were reluctant to donate blood.
