Bulamogi constituency MP Kenneth Lubogo retains seat

The petition was filed by Simon Muyanga Lutaaya of Forum for Democratic Change party (FDC), contesting Lubogo’s victory of the National Resistance Movement party (NRM).

Kenneth Lubogo Bulamogi constituency Member of parliament has retained his seat after he won a court petition presided over by justice Godfrey Namundi.

This was during judgment on Friday at the Jinja high court. 

The petition was filed by Simon Muyanga Lutaaya of Forum for Democratic Change party (FDC), contesting Lubogo's victory of the National Resistance Movement party (NRM).

 

In the petition he accused the electoral commission of non-compliance of the parliamentary laws.

In his petition he alleged intimidation, voter bribery, vote theft, failure of use of verification machines and bribery in various villages of including Namavudo B,Namukuyu, Nabukale, Kigodo and Bugadaall in Bumanya sub county.

Lubogo who was in court was represented by Hassan Kamba of Kamba Company advocates while Muyanga who was absent represented by Peter Matovu of Matovu and company advocates and electoral commission by Asuman Nyonyintono of Wagabaza and company advocates.

While reading his judgment Namundi dropped all the allegations saying the petitioner had failed to prove to court beyond reasonable doubt.

"According to my observations ingredients in this petition don't satisfy this court, beside the second respondent complied according to the laws and thus I don't find any merit in this case," he said.

Namundi dismissed the case with costs. Lubogo urged people to put aside their differences and serve the area.
