President Yoweri Museveni has called upon religious leaders to put more emphasis on teaching the young, the sanctity of marriage as provided by God for human perpetuation.
In a speech read for him by the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi during the post wedding thanks giving ceremony for Lt. Col. David Munyua in Moyo town. The President said that many young people today are shunning or delaying marriage while others are adapting foreign cultures that are detrimental to their health and a risk to humanity.
The president observed that statistics in the recent population census show that a big percentage of young people of marriageable age are living single lives a situation he described as un becoming and a serious diversion and called for the support of religious leaders to address the problem.
He said that committing oneself to a spouse is a sign of great responsibility and a lifetime engagement out of one's will and asked those in marriage to take their vows serious saying part of the problem of people not marrying are the bad examples exhibited by those in marriage.

Museveni who contributed ten million shillings towards the newly wed couple also commended Lt. Col. Munyua as a loyal, disciplined focused officer who has attained training in various institutions around the globe and still thirsty for knowledge.
Lt. Col. David Munyua head of SFC Marine Unit wed Anna Tereza Namugwere last week in Budaka and held a reception yesterday in Moyo Township for the two families and friends.
The function was attended by the area woman MP and Minster for primary Health Care Dr. Joyce Moriku, Moyo district Local Government leaders and officials.
