COBAP who boast of many budding boxers dominated both in the youth and elite category

After seeing his side going into the lead as the national boxing league got underway over the weekend, COBAP Boxing Club coach Ronald Kalyango vowed that his team is good for the title.

The Namungoona-based community based club outclassed Naguru based East Coast, shooting into the lead with 17 points at Lugogo on Saturday.

Kibuli based Police followed with 9 points ahead of Katwe who tied at 5 points together with East Coast.

"This is a good start. We shall carry on with good results because we are prepared to take the title," said Kalyango.

"The competition is bound to be high but we are prepared to take on the best," added the youthful tactician.

COBAP who boast of many budding boxers dominated both in the youth and elite category. 

Light welterweight Wasswa Lubega and middleweight George Serembe stood out in the junior category after stopping Geoffrey Vubuya Farouk Amerun (East Coast) respectively.

Light flyweight Ronald Gita, feather David Kato handed COBAP a better edge after punching their way to victory Herbert Kalungi (East Coast) and Sulaiman Shaban (East Coast).

The league that is supported by National Council of Sports is meant to nurture local talent.

The event has drawn 10 clubs including Lukanga, KCCA, UPDF, Zebra, KBC and Kavuma.
