Four suspected Congolese soldiers two of them dressed in military uniform and armed with guns attacked four fishermen while on a fishing expedition on Lake Albert.

The soldiers robbed 19 rolls of fishing gear, nine solar lighting batteries with 29 bulbs, four life jackets and a mobile phone.

Since January, 12 cases of robbery have been reported and six people killed.

The incident happened at the wee hours of Monday morning near Kihoro landing site, Nkondo parish, Kabwoya Sub County in Hoima district.

According to the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the case was reported at Kaiso Police Station in Buseruka Sub County and investigations are on-going.

"Incidents of piracy in Buseruka have become rampant. There is need to increase manpower and equipment of the marine staff so that they can begin patrolling the Uganda waters to protect fishermen from harassment by Congolese soldiers," Enanga said.

In a recent interview, the Foreign Affairs permanent secretary, James Mugume told New Vision that government will discuss a number of issues with the DRC government, among them the Allied Democratic Front (ADF), stolen cars mid this month.
