Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has cut rent fees for traders in the Wandegeya Market by 30%.
The traders in the sh22b market got a relief in a move KCCA says is intended to attract street vendors to the market.
The reduction was announced by Dr. Esau Galukande, the deputy director in charge of production and marketing in KCCA.
He says the reductions starts with the month of August.
Accordingly, traders who have been paying sh100,000 per month, will now pay sh70,000 per month.
According to the leaders of the market, traders have been leaving the market, saying the rent was too high.
