Mixed fortunes for Soccer League for Children in Nottingham Cup

Ugandan side; Soccer League for Children Academy opened their campaign on a winning note as the annual Nottingham Youth Cup football tournament kicked off at the Highfield's ground in UK on Thursday.

The Ugandans who arrived in London on Wednesday, opened their campaign strongly, walloping America's X L National 9-1.

But they later lost by the same margin to England's AFC Mansfield and were due to play USA's Strikers Storm and England's Elite Pro Sports.

Uganda Youth Football Association chairman John Bosco Masiko flagged off the team on Wednesday at City Parents School.

The sixteen-man team of the U-10 and U-13 led by Walter Oyet was flagged off at the school with Martin Isagala the head teacher urging the them to represent not only ambassadors of the school but also the country.

"Learn all the good things from their and implement them on return. Run to learn and learn to run," Isagala advised the kids in reference to how fast the Europeans do their things.

According to Oyet the Soccer League for Children are looking to better their second place finish they achieved with their U-8 in the same tournament last year.

The games are being played at Nottingham University's magnificent two football centres; Highfields and Riverside Park.
