Lumumba said the recruitment of Kihika as legal director brings to the NRM secretariat, a wealth of legal knowledge and expertise

Prominent city lawyer, Oscar Kihika, has been appointed to head the National Resistance Movement (NRM) legal team as the party seeks to address the post 2016 general election court petitions.

Kihika was on Wednesday unveiled to President Yoweri Museveni, the party chairman, by secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba, during a special dinner organised by NRM district chairpersons at Hotel Africana.

Lumumba said the recruitment of Kihika as legal director brings to the NRM secretariat, a wealth of legal knowledge and expertise, which would be tapped into to shape the emerging legal challenges.

The secretary general revealed that every party lawmaker, who is facing court battles, would be given Sh30m as legal support.  The same amount would be given to district chairpersons, who are engulfed in court battles.

"However, for you to get this money, you must come with a copy of the petition, stamped and signed by court," she said.
