Traders are now auctioning their products to vendors in Gulu

Ugandan traders, who deal in perishable goods in South Sudan's capital Juba, have resorted to auctioning their products to vendors in Gulu to avoid making losses.

When Radio Rupiny visited, Cereleno Market in Gulu Municipality this morning, one businessman identified as Demiano Batireho aged 24 years, was found selling bunches of bananas and cabbages while the ovocado had already started rotting.

Batireho who hails from Mbarara said he was stopped before reaching Aruu Junction in South Sudan when he met other trucks carrying goods returning to Uganda.

He said he will only be able to recover sh2m from a sh10m investment after selling off the items at giveaway prices to venders in Cereleno Market.

Ben Moro the director Northern Uganda Chamber of Commerce for Lango and Acholi sub regions, asked districts to accord a good business environment to traders looking for market within the region.

Moro regretted to note that the survival of South Sudan citizens is going to be hard if the war in the world's youngest nation does not cease.
