Jas Mangat and Duncan Mubiru Kikankane dropped out of the Oryx Energies Tanzania rally in the third section to leave Christakis Fitidis and Yasin Nasser holding Uganda's flag by end of day1 in Morogoro.

The Friends coaches sponsored Mubiru navigated by George Ssemakula and Mangat navigated by Joseph Kamya in a Mitsubishi Evo 10 dropped out due to engine failures. "Our engine went off in the first section we worked on it never the less it happened again," Mangat stated.

Another casualty of the event on day one was Africa rally championship contender, Muna Singh who had a puncture and later damaged more equipment in the car's front.

Meanwhile Christakis Fitidis is still focused and chasing Tanzanians Fahad Mustafa, Dharam Phandya and Zambian Radeep Singh as they start day two of the rally.

"The car is okay and we are pushing on we are here to enjoy but if we end up on a podium then that is well and good." Fitidis stated after day one.
