VOLLEYBALL: UVF creates two more tiers to accommodate new sides

Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) has added one more promotional tier for both men and women teams starting the national league on July 23.

According to fixtures for the first round of the league they have released, new teams like Lira, Iganga, Kampala University, Kampala International University, St Agnes, International University of East Africa (IUEA) and Magic volleyball team are in the men's Serie D competition.

After new women's teams coming up, UVF has also introduced Serie B league that will have UCC, Mulago, Nemostars B and KCCA B seeking promotion to the top league.

"New teams have come in and we had to accommodate them. And for women it was agreed on two years ago that once the ladies teams clock 14, they will have to be split".

Ndejje Elites women will launch their bid to defend the title with cracker on Sunday against VVC that they dethroned while the men's champions Nemostars VC will launch their defence a day later against new entrants Tigers.

Gulu University volleyball club have however pulled out.

University teams will host their home games in their respective campuses the next season and will see teams travel to MUBS and the MTN Arena as well as the new venue at Kampala International University and KCCA courts in Lugogo.
