There is a heavy police deployment to neutralise any violence

Police Field Force Unit operatives have been deployed in Aswa region, to thwart impending violence over land wrangles between Acholi and Langi in Agago district.

Police said there has been an outstanding dispute between the Acholi and Langi tribes in Agago over a piece of land lying between the sub-counties of Kotomoro and Patongo.

According to the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the tribes have been utilizing the land in question together for a long time but the Acholi complained that the Langi take the lion's share.

"The Acholi claim that Agago is their district and are said to have planned to chase away the Langi from the disputed piece of land since Monday.

The plan by the Acholi might result into a tribal war between the two communities therefore the Agago District Police Commander has been advised to chair a meeting with the district committee to get solution to the matter," Enanga said.

He said there is heavy police deployment to neutralise any violence.
