Matugga accident claims five including 2-yr-old child

A two-year-old baby girl is among five people that have died in a fatal accident in Matugga, Wakiso district.

According to witnesses all five died on the spot in the accident that involved a lorry and a bodaboda motorcycle.

The others victims of the accident are; Licensure Jim, a resident of Kawempe, Siraje Senfuka of Katooke-Nabweru, Jamila Najuma of Migadde and Sulaiman Tamale. The identity of the child is yet to be determined.

All bodies have been transferred to Mulago Hospital mortuary, according to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango.

"It was a head on collision between a tipper lorry registration number UAY 481T and motorcycle UDP 454Y. fFve people died on the spot" said Onyango of the 11:00am accident.

While addressing journalists at the Police headquarters at Naguru on Monday morning, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga said most fatal accidents are caused by reckless drivers, who disobey traffic rules and regulations.
