Despite the role domestic workers, especially maids, play in many homes, their efforts are rarely recognised and are often times mistreated at their duty-stations, which are homes.

As the world celebrated the International Domestic Workers Day on June 16, the day went by unnoticed for many employers.

Despite the role domestic workers, especially maids, play in many homes, their efforts are rarely recognised and are often times mistreated at their duty-stations, which are homes.

Unfortunately, they usually have no protection at their places of work, despite the laws in place to protect labourers in Uganda. Many domestic workers are illiterate and without resources to seek redress.

In Her Vision, we lay bare their trials such as poor working terms, mistreatment, where they can run for help and what employers can do to create a smooth working relationship with domestic workers.
