Drama as construction workers eat stones

The rather tired looking men spent the entire afternoon in the surrounding bush eating the concrete while the crowd that had turned up laughed at them.

There was drama when 10 men believed to have stolen building materials from a construction site started eating stones after being possessed by evil spirits.

The 10 were some of the builders at a construction site of a nursing school owned by doctor Mohamed Lubega, the former medical superintendent of Iganga main hospital at Busei south village, Nakalama sub county, Iganga district.

The site engineer, Shaban Zikulabye had earlier visited the traditional herbalist only identified as Kawologoma who operates from Nakalama trading centre after his workers denied stealing building materials that included two metallic doors worth sh2m. The doors were reportedly stolen on Thursday night.

The witch doctor arrived at the scene and sprinkled some water on the building and its surrounding areas and left. Moments later, the culprits started eating the concrete in the bushes surrounding the site.

They could not speak but just kept on looking for the stones in the bush to eat them.

By press time, they were in critical condition but could not stop eating.

Some of the workers were identified as Yakuti Muwaya 35, Kyemba 40, and Ramadan.

According to the LCI chairman Busei south, Grace Bekwese, the workers had never reported to his office since they started working on the site.

He cautioned the youths against engaging in theft to avoid similar incidents.

The district police commander Iganga, Nassibu Nditta promised to investigate the matter and establish why the 10 workers were behaving in such a manner.
