2016/17 UPL season to kick off August 20th

The transfer window opens officially on July 1st

The 2016/2017 Azam Uganda Premier League will commence on August 20.

This was confirmed by the Uganda Premier League (UPL) CEO Bernard Bainamani during the launch of the UPL awards where the league's top performers will be rewarded.

"Despite organizing awards, we also have plans of making next season better than the previous one," Bainamani stated.

FUFA licensing board committee will inspect all the clubs starting next month if they are to be given licenses to play in the league next season.

Some the requirements include, having a budget to cater for the club, source of funds to support the club, improving stadiums to the required standards and a club office.

A team should also have a coach with a CAF B or A license, certified CEO, club owner, should have paid licensing and players' registration fees.

Kirinya Jinja SS, Onduparaka and Proline are the teams that were promoted to the league which was won by KCCA.
