Police recover 3 guns in Bukedi

The gun number TSSNC- 543 SAR was recovered on Wednesday morning in Madibira village in Western Division of Busia municipality.

Police in Busia have recovered a rifle suspected to have been used for robbery in the area.

Bukedi regional police spokesperson, Kamulya  said the gun become the third to be recovered in the region in less than two months.

He said the gun was recovered after residents through their village leaders reported the presence of the abandoned gun.

He said the gun suspected to belonging to a private Security Company was not loaded with ammunition at the time it was recovered.

Kamulya thanked members of the community for their vigilance and cooperation with the police adding that this indicates that they are concerned of their security.

He added that another gun was recovered in Lyolwa sub county Tororo district from armed robbers after the police managed to shoot them dead during a cross fire.

Meanwhile Police in Pallisa have arrested 19 people following an operation to curb gambling which had become a source of insecurity in the district.

The suspects were rounded up during an operation conducted in the sub counties of Opiakata, Kibale and Butebo.

Kamulya said the operation followed increasing crime rate in the district involving house breaking, way laying of travelers at night and theft of domestic animals and birds.

He said the suspect after screening will be charged with rogue and vagabond
