King's College Nuggets tipped off this year's Junior NBA games in high gear with two wins on ‘home soil' on Saturday.

The Nuggets edged the Mashariki Pelicans 35-34 before beating the Kisubi Mapera Spurs 45-35 in the third game of the day played at Buddo SS courts.

Weekend games hosts Buddo SS Mavericks also opened their account with a 25-18 win over the Kisubi Mapera Spurs with Andrew Were scoring 13 points for Buddo who also had Rodney Kabuye and Bill Mugisha stand out for their side.

Gideon Chemutai, Marie Marco and Mua Than Mum stood out for Spurs who were punished for their slow start and were no match for against the clinical Nuggets.

Despite having taller players last year's finalists Mashariki High Pelicans were shocked by Kings College Budo who had Male Bakka and Henry Luyima score 11 and 7 points respectively.

Mashariki High's Arafat Magezi and Jordan Kayondo's combined 19 points weren't enough for the Pelicans who return to action against the spurs on Jul 2 at St. Mary's College Kisubi.

Meanwhile the girls' matches that were scheduled to start on Saturday were postponed because some of the schools were engaged in exams on the day.
