Men's cricket league title decider

Jun 10, 2016

Title chasers Challengers face Tornado Bee at Lugogo.

UCA MEN'S NATIONAL CRICKET LEAGUE

Division 1

Challengers v Tornado Bee (Lugogo)
Wanderers v Tornado (Kyambogo)
Patidar v Tigers (Entebbe)

Division 2

Premier v Africa (Budo)
Jinja v SKLPS (Jinja)

It is, put simply, the title decider.

If the Challengers defeat Tornado Bee at Lugogo, they will almost certainly go on to claim the 2016 national cricket title.

A win would leave the league-leading Challengers at least 15 points clear of the three-time defending champions with four games to play.

In other words, Tornado Bee, who have a game in hand on the Challengers, will leave Lugogo with one of the greatest runs in local cricket still alive or with a new champion conceived.

What's incredible is the radical swing of fortunes hanging on this clash because if Tornado Bee win, they are right back into it. They would be six points adrift (provided they claim a bonus point) with a game in hand.

Still, all these calculations do not bode well for a team that has simply dominated the league for three straight years.

They speak of a race that might have slipped out of control for Jeremy KibuukaMusoke and his charges. Maybe not.
