No special assembly for NCS cause - Magogo

The demand has strained the relationship between FUFA and NCS

FUFA president Moses Magogo has insisted that he will not call for an extra ordinary assembly to discuss whether or not the federation should honour National Council of Sports (NCS) demands for them to register as trustees of football in Uganda.

NCS general secretary Nicholas Muramagi has insisted that all the sports associations and federations have up to June 30 to register or any other group of people will be allowed to take over the federations that would have failed to register.

The demand has strained the relationship between FUFA and NCS as the former argues that it contravenes with FIFA rules.

Sections of football followers as well as some federation officials had suggested an extraordinary assembly but Magogo has said that the federation doesn't have the money.

"We need sh80m to organise an extra-ordinary assembly. We could not spend this money when Uganda Cranes needed to travel. Why shouldn't we wait for the AGM (in October)?" Magogo said.

He said on Wednesday that some NCS officials whose names he did not mention were bent towards frustrating his leadership.

"This thing (regulations) was stage managed to create a potential clash (between FUFA and NCS). Otherwise how do you explain the country living 50years without the regulations and now we have to have it within two or three weeks? What is the rush for," Magogo reasoned.

He accused NCS of refusing to listen to their grievances with the regulations. He said that NCS has refused to respond to their request for them to sit with FIFA officials and discuss demands of the regulations contravening FIFA statutes.
