World University Championship in Miami, Florida

The national university team has started training ahead of their second encounter at the World University Championship slated from July 13-17 in Miami, Florida.
National coach, Rashid Mubiru has been assigned to head the preparations after a squad of 16 summoned players was trimmed to 12 yesterday and according to Mubiru, the selected players are capable to winning Uganda a gold medal at the weeklong event.
"I have hope in the players because I have worked with most of them before and I am sure we shall return with gold only if we train well," Mubiru said during the team's training at Nakivubo Stadium.
Among the summoned players is experienced player Ruth Meeme who was on the national team at the Netball World Cup in Australia last year.
Others include, Angela Namirembe, Sarah Nakitende, Carol Namusoke, Florence Adunia, Suzan Atino, Joan Ameo, Irene Akello, Irene Eyaru, Rachael Nanyonga, Ali Kuluthum, Amina Namulondo and Shadia Nampeera.
The team will be at the Nakivubo Stadium and Makerere University grounds during non-residential training.
As Uganda prepares to take on among others defending champions England, Scotland, Wales, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, Barbados and USA for the netball title.
