The pair missed the Rio 2016 Olympics Games cut during the Africa Olympic qualifiers

Ugandan boxers Atanus Mugerwa and Sula Segawa are gearing up for the last Rio Olympics games qualification card in the AIBA Open Boxing qualifier due in Azerbaijan next week.

After putting up a good show in the Eindhoven Boxing Cup in Netherlands last month, the two will use their experience in Holland as a springboard for the Brazil games.

Bantamweight Mugerwa bagged gold while lightweight Segawa punched his way to silver. They have been loading punching power in Holland since they registered their exploits last month.

The pair missed the Rio 2016 Olympics Games cut during the Africa Olympic qualifiers in Cameroon in March. Mugerwa and Segawa will use the Azerbaijan event as a last chance to qualify for the Brazil Games due in August.

The two boxers are camping at Anda Boxing Club under facilitation of Holland-based Ugandan boxer Andaman Daku.

Only two Ugandan boxers Ronald Serugo and light heavyweight Katende have so far qualified for the Olympics.

According to Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) secretary Simon Barigo, flyweight Fazil Juma, middleweight Mike Obin and heavyweight Willy Kyakonye have been entered for the AIBA Pro Boxing qualifier due in Venezuela next month July 14-26.
