Bodybuilders Ivan Byekwaso and Mubarak Kizito have promised the country gold medals at the 2016 INBA World Championships in Budapest June 10-11.

The promise was in appreciation of the offer the bodybuilders received from National Council of Sports as they were flagged off to Hungary this morning.

"This is the year for bodybuilding to yield fruits. I am happy and we shall not let our flag down. I promise where we are going we shall bring back gold medals. I don't make empty promises," Byekwaso said during the ceremony.

NCS gave Ivan Byekwaso and Mubarak Kizito sh17.3m to travel and compete at the INBA World Championships.

NCS general secretary Nicholas Muramagi handed over the money to the athletes at Council offices in Lugogo.

"You (Byekwaso and Kizito) deserve the little support we have given you. You are champions. It's not a favour but we want you to be role models," Muramagi said.
