Are HIV positive children safe at school?

What should be done to protect the young HIV generation to live positively?

Winnie Nansumba is only known to have taken the stand to speak about HIV/AIDS at the Kololo Airstrip during Pope Francis' visit.

However, behind that bright smile and charismatic personality lies a heart-rending story which turned Nansumba into the motivation she is today.

Nansumba was born HIV-positive and both her parents succumbed to the scourge when she was a little gir.

Her father died when she was only five years old and two years later, her mother also passed on.

Nansumba has been on medication every single day of her life and it was an uphill task while she was at school.

Oftentimes she was afraid of discrimination and stigmatization over the disease.

And her story is representative of what thousands of children in Uganda who are HIV-positive suffer while at school.

In some cases, the children's sero-status is revealed to all and sundry without their consent.
