Mayiga compared marriage to leadership

The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali and the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga on Saturday proved they understand marriage very well.

When the prelate and the cultural leader got a chance to preach at the ceremony on which Bishop James William Ssebaggala of Mukono Diocese celebrated 25 years in marriage, they left the congregation contented and shaking their heads in approval. The function took place at Bishops SS, Mukono.

Mayiga kept the congregation laughing until the end as he weaved his massage well to emphasize the importance of culture and religion in marriage.

He noted that whereas marriage was for mainly procreation according to the Kiganda culture, Christianity emphasizes love among couples to sustain the relationships.

Mayiga also compared marriage to leadership, arguing that both need love and hard work to sustain.

Meanwhile, Ntagali told the congregation that marriages that last forever should be built on a number of principles including humility, kindness, and compassion.

Bishop Ssebaggala and wife Tezirah Nakimbugwe wed on June 1, 1991 and are a blessed with four children.

Both Mayiga and Ntagali commended the couple for the love and commitment they have for one another.
