Never neglect or snub elderly people

The association chairman Dave Chirag said the elderly are supposed to be respected in society because they are responsible for what everyone is.

Hundreds of Indians above 60years of age on Thursday thronged Patidar Samaj in Kampala to celebrate the long life God has given them. The event was organised by the Indian association of Uganda.

The association chairman Dave Chirag said the elderly are supposed to be respected in society because they are responsible for what everyone is.

"They produced us, took care of us and made sure that we are what we are, so the only way we can show them our appreciation is by showing them the love and care, this is why as Indian association we decided to show the elderly love by organising for them a party," he said.

He added that everyone will have to grow old as long as we are alive, so we have to take care of the old ones the way we would want to be taken care of when we also reach their age.

Chirag advised everyone never to neglect or snub elderly people. "You are mandated to visit them very often regardless of how far away they live. Let them enjoy the fruits of your sweat because it is because of them that you are getting them," he stressed.
