A ten-man Ugandan golf team is in high spirits as they go through their paces ahead of the Victoria Cup against Kenya at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi on Friday.
The African Express Airways and Pinaccle Security sponsored team arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday ahead of the practice round and flag rising ceremony on June 2 before the three days of competition thereafter.
According to Uganda Golf Union president Johnson Omolo, the friendly competition is aimed at developing talent at a national level by offering exposure to golfers who prove to be competitive at a national level.
Long serving national team players Adolf Muhumuza and Ronald Rugumayo who were on the team that represented Uganda at the Zone 5 Championship last month, are among the ten who are in Nairobi alongside rookies Grace Kasango, Becca Mwanja and Ismail Muhamood.

Junior golfers Edrine Okong, Joel Basalaine and Dennis Asaba who are vying for the inaugural trophy at the three-day tournament which will be played under the Ryder Cup format.
Each country's 10 players will be involved in a match-play competition, of two singles rounds and two rounds of foursomes.
The singles will involve one-on-one matches contested for by the 8 players from either country while the foursomes will have pairs fighting it out in the inaugural competition of this nature between the two countries.
