Rugby: Elgon Cup Squad named

Uganda vs Kenya

Brian Odongo will captain the Rugby Cranes 24 man squad against Kenya in the Elgon Cup on Saturday at Legends Rugby Club.

The 24-man squad was unveiled on Wednesday at Legends Rugby Club where Nile Breweries unveiled a sh600m three year sponsorship deal with the national team.

According to  Isaac Ssekasi, sh181m is for national team activities for this year but the biggest percentage will go to the welfare of the players.

Sh81.9m is for preparation of team for the Elgon cup. sh66m is for Rugby Africa engagements against Namibia, Zimbabwe and Kenya while sh33.3m will cover a friendly game against Rwanda on August 27.

"We are committed to supporting rugby in Uganda. As the number one fan, we are driven by passion to rally nationwide support for the Rugby Cranes," Ssekasi stated.

URU president Andrew Owor lauded Nile Breweries for the timely support.

Rugby Cranes squad: Asuman Mugerwa, Cyrus Wathum, Brian Odongo(Cpt) ,Charles Uhuru, Byron Oketa,Pius Ogena, Ronald Musajja, Arthur Mpande, Elijah Ssegawa,Oscar Kalyango, Michael Wokorach, Philip Wokorach and Erick Kasiita.

Others are Ramathan Govule, Gerald Ssewankambo, Saul Kivumbi, James Odongo, Davis Kiwalabye, John Wandicho, Kevin Makmot, Denis Mullo, Joseph Aredo and Robert Masendi.
