"I can hold my head up high"

Simba SC head coach Jackson Mayanja has described his five month period at the club as successful after the team finished the Tanzania Premier League season in the third position.

However, Mayanja is uncertain about his stay as head coach at the club.

"It has been a successful spell as the head coach of Simba. I can hold my head up high," Mayanja said.

"It was difficult assuming the duties of the head coach a few days after arriving at the club, but I did a good job and Simba went on to become a serious title contender. There were challenges of keeping the players disciplined. A few misunderstandings occurred but we did our best to keep things under control," he said.

"There were cases when some players considered themselves bigger than the club, but we did well to force them abide by the club principles," he said as players like fellow Ugandan Brian Majwega who claimed he was being mistreated.

Simba has decided to dismiss its players Uganda and Kenya after accusing them of underperforming in the just concluded season.

Ugandan victims at the club are Murshid Juuko, Hamis Kiiza and Brian Majwega and Kenyan Paul Kiongera.

According to media reports, Simba spokesman Hajji Manara said that the club had decided to dismiss foreign players because they did not help them achieve their targets of the season.

Young Africans (Yanga) were crowned champions while Simba finished third.
