Nkozi Hospital fundraising marathon set for June 18

Located 83kms on the Kampala-Masaka Road, Nkozi Hospital receives an average of 20 accident victims a week. Unfortunately, it lacks a ward to deal with the problem effectively and conveniently.

Nkozi Hospital is seeking sh655m to build its proposed accident and emergency ward.

Located 83kms on the Kampala-Masaka Road, Nkozi Hospital receives an average of 20 accident victims a week. Unfortunately, it lacks a ward to deal with the problem effectively and conveniently.

As one of the activities to raise money, the hospital's management has organised a fundraising marathon, which will take place on June 18, starting at 7:00am.

The Chief runner will be Emmanuel Cardinal Dr. Wamala. Singer Bobi Wine, who was also born in the hospital, will also run.

As a preparation activity for the Marathon, the staff of Nkozi Hospital Saturday visited Lwalaalo Landing Site, Ggolo, in Mpigi District, where they cleaned up the area's trading center.

Speaking to the residents, after the exercise, the Administrator of Nkozi Hospital, Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi said: "We want to give back to the neighbouring communities as we also mobilise the people to support the accident and emergency ward project, by participating in the fundraising marathon on June 18. We must work together to save the lives of the many accident victims that are brought to us on a daily basis."

Sr. Nakyanzi said that the tickets for the marathon are being sold at sh1, 000, sh5, 000 and sh10, 000. But you can contribute even more, to be more supportive.

The Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Alfred Lumala requested the residents to become members of the association of the friends of Nkozi Hospital, who meet at the hospital in Nkozi, and at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel, Rubaga, once in a month. Registration fee for membership is sh10, 000. Members are also required to pay a membership fee and a subscription fee of sh20, 000, respectively."

Prior to their visit to Ggolo, the staff of Nkozi also visited Buwama and Kayabwe, on the Kampala Masaka Road, where they also cleaned up the two trading centers and mobilized the residents to join the fundraising campaign for the hospital.
