Seven people were on Thursday evening shot dead by unknown gunmen at Mangwir County in South Sudan.

Three, of the dead were Ugandans traveling in Fuso truck while the four were traveling in another unidentified vehicle all heading to Mangwir.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa region police spoke person said, the incident happened at 4:00am when a Fuso truck registration number UAR 032C was ambushed at Comobero center, a junction between Aruu and Mangwir.

The three Ugandans include the driver known as Francis Ocan,32, a resident of Gulu, Magido Kagoga Admed, 50, from Iganga and the owner of the truck Ronald Kyambade, 29, from Kayunga.

Okema said the deceased have been brought back home and handed over to their relatives for burial.

"This is not the first attack on businessmen from Uganda as they travel to trade in south Sudan," said Okema.

He added that attackers are most likely to be robbers because they took all cash belonging to the deceased.

He blamed the security forces of South Sudan for not working in harmony with Uganda security to stop attacks on businessmen across the two countries.
