Catholics were urged to do more to restore moral sanity

The Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Doris Akol on Sunday visited Radio Maria Uganda's headquarters at Biina Mutungo, where she presided over the radio's fundraising ceremony and also launched its self-support scheme, named Mariathon.

Radio Maria is an internationally coordinated evangelistic radio of the Catholic Church, which has its headquarters in Rome.

Akol thanked Radio Maria for its holistic programs, which she said had transformed Ugandans holistically.

She nonetheless asked the Catholic Church to do more to restore the moral sanity of Ugandans, arguing that without ethics and integrity, the country cannot attain development.

Akol presided over the Radio's mini-fundraising ceremony, which fetched over sh5m. She later launched Mariathon, a scheme set up by the radio's fans, to raise funds for its operations.

Earlier during mass, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu, John Baptist Odama asked Ugandans to love one another, without any discrimination, because humanity was one.

Odama argued that despite our different tribes, nationalities, socio-economic and educational backgrounds, human beings were the same owing to their common father-hood in God.

The function was also graced by the Radio's President, Leo Kibirango and its National Director, Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssewava, who thanked all those that supported the radio.
