Onduparaka FC raises money for stadium

Led by club patron Caleb Alaka, a city lawyer and the Ayivu county MP, Bernard Atiku, Onduparaka fans promised to keep the newly promoted club in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Onduparaka FC fans have generated sh2.4m in cash and about sh11m in pledges to upgrade the club's home ground -Greenlight stadium to FUFA standards.

Led by club patron Caleb Alaka, a city lawyer and the Ayivu county MP, Bernard Atiku, Onduparaka fans promised to keep the newly promoted club in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Currently Onduparaka is in the semi-final of Uganda Cup, the second biggest competition. Atiku revealed that their plan is to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup.

"West Nile is full of football talent with players in teams like KCCA and Villa but when these players come to Kampala in search of good clubs, they end up degenerating and getting lost. Let's stand on our own now," Atiku said amidst applause from cheering fans in Kampala.

The club leadership has urged the West Nile population from the districts of Nebbi, Zombo, Arua, Koboko, Adjumani, Maracha, Yumbe and Moyo to rally behind the team as they seek to represent Uganda at continental level.
