Police recovers stolen cars in Mbarara

20 cases have been recorded in the last four months alone

Police in South Western region have recovered seven suspected stolen vehicles in the ongoing operation following soaring cases of gunmen hijacking vehicles in Mbarara town.

Five of these vehicles were found in Mbarara and two in Isingiro district.

Police say that according to the Log Books, the suspicious vehicles had their engine numbers tampered with, registration numbers altered and colors changed.

Vincent Ssekate, the Rwizi region police spokesperson says documents of these vehicles have been taken to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for verification.

Over 20 cases of car robbery occurring in Mbarara district have been recorded by police in the last four months only.
