Gomba are three time champions (2004, 2009 and 2014) and two time finalist (2005 and 2007) but failed to advance from the group stages last year.

"It has been a year of hard work by the players and support from the officials and fans. While many fans are asking for the trophy, I am looking at supply entertaining football to make them happy," said George Lutalo, the new coach for Gomba.

For the defending champions Singo, fielding a new side could have been the limiting factor but Coach Abdallah Mubiru is confident the boys will get better.
