The donation under the ministry of health comes as an appreciation to the district for performing well in house to house polio and measles immunization campaign.

GAVI the Vaccine Alliance has donated 9 Yamaha motorcycles, 9 bicycles and one brand new Toyota double cabin to the Kabarole district local government.

The donation under the ministry of health comes as an appreciation to the district for performing well in house to house polio and measles immunization campaign.

According to figures from the district health department, the district achieved 102% target in the polio immunization for the month of January, 96% for the month of March and 105% for the month of April.

The motorcycles have been given to the health officers in charge at different health centers, while the bicycles and the double cabin vehicle have been given to the Village health team members of the office of the District Health Officers (DHO) respectively.

While handing over the motorcycles at the district headquarters today the Chief Administrative Officer Nickolas Muloni said the donation is intended to improve health services.

"This donation should enable us to first of all sustain this good performance and also work harder using the equipment given to us to perform better" Muloni said.

Kabarole District chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga cautioned the beneficiaries against misusing the donated items.

"My office working closely with police will not hesitate to impound any of these vehicles that will be performing any duty that is not in line with health" Rwabuhinga said.

Rwabuhinga attributed the district's good performance to the existing good working relationship and collaboration between the health workers, the political wing and the general public.
