Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said there will be three days of national mourning for Mama Lucy after the body arrives.

The body of former First Lady Lucy Kibaki will arrive in Nairobi from London on Sunday at 5am.

Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said there will be three days of national mourning for Mama Lucy after the body arrives.

Kiraithe said Kenyans will have an opportunity to sign her condolence books which will be stationed at various places in Nairobi and at county headquarters countrywide.

The books will be put at the Holy Family Basilica and Consolata Shrine in Westlands. Mama Lucy died at a London hospital on Tuesday morning after being unwell for about a month. The government spokesman said a national working committee has been set up to oversee the burial arrangements.

He said the burial date will be announced later. The committee is composed of government officials and family members.

Lucy, who was wife of former President Mwai Kibaki, died aged 82 at Bupa Cromwell Hospital.
She fell ill in March and was admitted at the Nairobi Hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Lucy had earlier been taken to Gertrude's Children's Hospital for emergency care.

Her family said she was suffering from age-related complications. She was flown out of the country for further treatment.

In a condolence message on Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said she will be remembered for her immense contributions to the country's development.

The former First Lady chaired the Organization of the 40 African First Ladies Against HIV/Aids.
She was also known for supporting disadvantaged and disabled people; a hospital 'Mama Lucy Kibaki' was opened in her honour.
