Today in history: Toro Queen mother wins land case

She had filed a plaint seeking an order for the annulment of a caveat that was placed on the estate of her late husband Omukama Patrick Olimi Kaboyo III by Princess Mabel Komuntale, an elder sister to the late king.

April 26, 1999 - Toro's Queen Mother, Best Kemigisa, won a High Court case in which she filed a plaint seeking an order for the annulment of a caveat that was placed on the estate of her late husband Omukama Patrick Olimi Kaboyo III by Princess Mabel Komuntale, an elder sister to the late king. Court ruled that she was entitled to administer the estate of her late husband. 

Also  APRIL 26, 1962 - The Governor of Uganda asked Apollo Milton Obote to form a Government after UPC won the highest number of seats in the National Assembly elections. Obote took the Office of Prime Minister from the DP's Bendicto Kiwanuka. UPC had secured 33 seats in the new National Assembly, against 20 for the DP. UPC officials said the results justified the party's alliance with the KY, a Buganda-based party.
