Battle for Uganda Premier League promotion heats up

Each of the top teams in every group will qualify automatically to the top flight

The battle to join the Azam Uganda Premier League next season is still tight as the FUFA Big League gets to its final stages.

Proline and Onduparaka FC top the Rwenzori and Elgon Groups with 41 points each but they are six points above second placed Masavu and Sporting United respectively.

Kirinya Jinja SS is third in the Rwenzori Group on 38 points while Ndejje and Paidha Black Angels are joint third in the Elgon Group on 37 points.

Each of the top teams in every group will qualify automatically to the top flight while second and third in both groups will undergo playoffs to decide the third team that qualifies to the topflight.

Elsewhere, Kireka United hosts Wakiso United in the outside pitch of Namboole Stadium while Kirinya Jinja SS face Sun City.

In the Elgon Group, Water FC will take on CRO at Mengo Secondary School ground while Baza Holdings plays Busia Fisheries who lost their head coach Peter Bwire Oguttu after a long battle with malaria.

The late Oguttu was laid to rest over the weekend.
