He eats so terribly, I can't stand it

I'm dating a loving handsome guy after nursing a heart break for almost a year.

He really loves me and cares. He loves hanging out, we often go out but I can't dare introduce him to my friends unless there's no eating involved.

He eats so badly. I can't stand the sight or sound of him eating. Food mixed with saliva sometimes protrudes from the corners of his mouth as he chews and on a very bad day will spill over carelessly.

On Easter Sunday, he insisted I invite our close friends for dinner but I found all sorts of excuses to prevent mine from coming for fear of being embarrassed.

He went ahead and invited his and he displayed his bad habits for all to see, chewing loudly and with his mouth open. One can't imagine the embarrassment I had to go through even though it was his friends.

I'm a well groomed lady who minds her manners in public so this guy's eating habits are killing me. How do I tell him without offending him?
