UPDF detonates device found in Gulu building

An anti-riot grenade used to disperse gatherings was successfully detonated on Monday afternoon at Green Valley near Pece Stream in Bardege division.

The grenade that was discovered inside the ceiling of a commercial building along Andrea Olal Road on Main Street in Gulu Town was detonated by bomb experts from the UPDF 4th Division. 

The UPDF 4th Division spokesperson Lt. Ahamad Hassan Kato told journalists that joint investigations by Police and UPDF are going to commence to establish how the explosive ended up in the ceiling. 

Lt. Kato cautioned residents against entertaining strangers since they may use their naivety to plant similar devices around their premises.

He also called on members of the public to inform authorities as soon as they discover such devices.
