Prayers for conflict-torn Rwenzori underway

The Rwenzururu and Obudingiya Bwa Bamba kings are expected at ecumenical peace prayers for the conflict-torn Rwenzori sub-region this afternoon.

When New Vision visited Rwenzori Square (the venue where the prayers will be conducted) this afternoon, tents were going up. They included one being decorated with the Rwenzururu colours and another bearing colours for the Bamba/Babwisi king.

Top religious leaders from different religious groups will grace the prayers that are slated to kick off at around 3pm local time. Religious leaders from the region spearheaded the push for the prayers.

On Friday, several cultural leaders under their Uganda Kings and Cultural Leaders Forum visited the Rwenzururu king to sympathize with him and familiarize themselves with the prevailing situation in the era. They were led by the Isabaruuli Isabarongo Mwatyansozi Mwogezi Butanyanya

The outgoing and incoming political leaders are also expected at the function that is scheduled to attract hundreds of people.
