University league: Nkumba hold Ndejje

Apr 07, 2016

The two sides fail to find a goal.

Nkumba University held Ndejje University at home in a goalless affair at Ndejje grounds in the University Football League.

The two sides now have four points each, having come into the game on the back of wins.

But neither team could replicate that, especially on a wet surface following a downpour. And while the visitors look bossed play, Ndejje defended in numbers.

The hosts will also have their goalkeeper to thank, as he made a couple of brilliant saves. One - and an early one - was when he saved brilliantly Otto Isaac' effort from a corner kick.

They also lacked precision and sharpness in the final third.

Five minutes to half time, Ndejje's Erisa Kiwawu came close to drawing first blood from a free-kick but the keeper was alert.

After the interval, Nkumba returned a much improved side but were undone by lack of clinical finishing, particularly by Emmanuel Wasswa who missed a glorious opportunity.

And ten minutes to the final whistle, Murushid Mugwanya's effort bore nothing to keep the contest as a stalemate.
