The national Copa Coca Cola organizing committee has slapped a one year ban on two schools for using ineligible players during last year's event in Hoima.
Kigezi High School from Kabale district (Kigezi region) and Premier SS of Hoima (Kitara region), have been banned after they were found guilty of the offence following a committee investigation.
Committee secretary, Michael Mpima confirmed the bans on Thursday, saying the committee's decision comes with effective findings.
"It has taken the committee all this long but finally we came up with concrete evidence over the matter. So the punishments for both schools take immediate effect," Mpima said.
Kigezi had beaten Risah Standard to qualify for the quarter finals in the Hoima event, but was disqualified after a petition by Risah on Kigezi goalkeeper Ikara Ssenkayi.
But Mpima said that after a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Ssenkayi had played for St Edwards Bukumi in their district qualifiers as Patrick Kawoya, therefore not eligible to play for Kigezi, while Premier had been stopped from advancing to the second round for using two ineligible players.
The national Copa Coca Cola qualifiers are ongoing at district level throught the country, but Mpima said they are yet to decide on the hosting venue.
